HAMILTON, Ont. – Renelle Bourque of the Mohawk Mountaineers women's softball team has been selected to represent New Brunswick at the 2025 Canada Summer Games in St. John's, N.L.

Bourque played her first season with the Mountaineers in 2024, primarily playing shortstop in 18 games. A native of Dieppe, N.B., Bourque posted a .333 batting average over 42 at-bats, scoring 11 runs and driving in eight RBIs.

"Being selected for this team is an absolute honour," said Bourque. "Coming to Ontario to play and represent Mohawk, while being from a small town in New Brunswick, has been an incredible experience. But to go back home and represent my province at the Canada Games level, competing against the best in Canada, is going to be an amazing opportunity."

Before joining the Mountaineers, Bourque won the 2021 Softball New Brunswick Provincial Championship with the Oromocto Silverbacks. She also participated in the Eastern Canadian Championship twice, winning the title in 2022.

"As an athlete, anytime you're selected to represent your province at a national event, it's a huge honour," said Mohawk head coach Chris McColl. "It's especially gratifying to see someone who has faced adversity and injury continue to excel through hard work and dedication. Renelle's selection to Team New Brunswick is a testament to her perseverance and commitment."

The 2025 Canada Summer Games will take place from August 8-25 in St. John's, N.L.
