Local tri-sport athlete commits to Mountaineers men’s basketball

HAMILTON, Ont. – Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball head coach Jamie Girolametto has announced the addition of Carter Brown to the program for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Brown, a 6'3 wing from Hamilton, Ont., brings all-around ability and high basketball IQ to the Mountaineers after a standout high school career at Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School.

"He's a coach's son with great IQ and instincts for the game," said Girolametto. "He's not necessarily great at anything, but he's good at everything. He'll be a solid addition."

In the 2024-25 season, Brown helped lead MacNab to both the OFSAA AA and SOSSA championships. He is also a two-time city champion and was named team MVP in basketball, tennis and water polo during the 2023-24 school year, earning MacNab's Athlete of the Year honours.

Brown is the third local player to jon the Mountaineers in the past two years, following the additions of Hamilton's Eltom Adam and Deneilson Stewart a year ago.

"It just adds to the atmosphere at games," said Girolametto. "The more local guys you have, the more local fans you are going to have."

Brown will begin studies in Police Foundations this fall.
