Playoff Preview: Mountaineers matchup versus No. 8 Lords in OCAA Quarterfinals

HAMILTON, Ont. – The Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball team faces a tough challenge in the OCAA Quarterfinals as they take on the No. 8 nationally ranked Durham Lords.

The Mountaineers will travel to Oshawa, Ont., on February 22 for a 5 p.m. tip-off, battling Durham for a spot in the semifinals.

The Matchup:

Mohawk secured their place in the quarterfinals with a 95-81 victory over the Centennial Colts, marking the program's third consecutive year reaching this stage.

The Mountaineers were led by first-year guard Eltom Adam (Hamilton, Ont.), who scored 22 points. Marko Dosen (Hamilton, Ont.) contributed a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds, while Raivone Young (Halifax, NS) added 19 points to the effort.

Durham, boasting a 17-1 record this season, advanced with a 92-70 win over the Fanshawe Falcons in last weekend's playoff action. The Lords have been nationally ranked as high as fifth and currently sit at No. 8 in the CCAA.

Last Meeting:

The last time the Mountaineers and Lords met was in the 2013-14 playoffs, where they squared off in a bronze medal semi-final. Durham claimed a 96-90 victory in that game before losing in the third-place matchup to the Humber Hawks.
