CCAA Bronze Medal Preview: Mountaineers face Chargers for national medal

NANAIMO, B.C. – The Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball team will look to capture the program's second national medal Saturday when they face the Camosun Chargers in the CCAA National Championship bronze medal game.

Mohawk's only national medal came in 2012, when the Mountaineers won the CCAA championship. Camosun is seeking its first national medal in program history.

HOW THEY GET HERE
Both teams dropped into the bronze medal bracket after losses to the Dynamiques de Brébeuf.

Mohawk opened the tournament with an 88-84 victory over the Keyano Huskies before falling 85-71 in the semi-final to Brébeuf. The Mountaineers rebounded with a 94-70 win over the Lethbridge Kodiaks in Friday's bronze semifinal.

Camosun lost its opener 89-75 to the Dynamiques, then kept its medal hopes alive with a 70-67 win over the Huskies. The Chargers advanced to the bronze medal game with a 66-62 victory over the OCAA champion Humber Hawks.

HISTORICAL MATCHUP
The teams last met at the 2016 CCAA National Championship, where Mohawk defeated Camosun 82-65 in the seventh-place game.
