CCAA Semi-Final Preview: Mountaineers meet Dynamiques in CCAA semi-final

NANAIMO, B.C. – The Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball team will face the RSEQ champion Dynamiques de Brébeuf in the semifinals of the CCAA National Championship on Thursday, after defeating the ACAC champion Keyano Huskies in quarter-final action.

HOW THEY GOT HERE
The Mountaineers earned an 88-84 victory over the Huskies in a game that featured numerous lead changes. Strong scoring performances from Kazim Raza (Markham, Ont.) and Iverson Chong (Oakville, Ont.) helped lift Mohawk to the win.

Brébeuf, one year removed from a CCAA bronze medal, advanced to the semifinals with an 89-76 double-overtime victory over the Camosun Chargers. The Dynamiques trailed by as many as 11 points at one point, but rallied in the fourth quarter to force overtime. They took control in the second extra period, outscoring Camosun by 13.

In conference play, Brébeuf posted a 14-2 regular season record and captured the RSEQ title with an 81-61 win over the Dawson Blues.

HISTORICAL MATCHUP
The Mountaineers and Dynamiques have not previously met at the CCAA National Championship. The teams have faced each other in recent preseason action, including this past October, when Brébeuf earned an 85-80 win.

Mohawk also faced Brébeuf in the 2023 preseason, falling 106-95.
