HAMILTON, Ont. – The No. 12 nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball team will look to protect home court in an OCAA qualifying-round game Saturday against the Algonquin Wolves.
Mohawk enters the playoffs as the West Division's third seed after posting a 13-5 record, while Algonquin is the East Division's sixth seed at 7-11.
SEASON RECAP
The Mountaineers climbed as high as No. 7 in the national rankings during the season. Mohawk earned wins over the No. 4 ranked St. Clair Saints and No. 8 Humber Hawks, while compiling a perfect 9-0 record at home.
Mohawk enters the playoffs following a road loss to Fanshawe in its regular-season finale.
Algonquin ended its regular season with a win, snapping a four-game losing streak. The Wolves went 1-9 against the top five teams in the East Division.
HISTORICAL MATCHUP
The teams last met in the 2015-16 OCAA quarterfinals, when Mohawk earned a 75-68 victory.
Since 1975-76, Mohawk holds a 4-3 edge over Algonquin in playoff meetings. Overall, the Mountaineers are 13-5 against the Wolves all-time.
