Playoff Preview: Mountaineers head to Sudbury for OCAA Quarter-Final match

HAMILTON, Ont. – The Mohawk Mountaineers men's volleyball team will face a tough challenge in the OCAA Quarterfinals as they take on the No. 15 nationally ranked Cambrian Shield in Sudbury, Ont. on February 16. The match is set to start at 1 p.m.

The Matchup:

The Mountaineers advanced to the quarterfinals after a thrilling 3-2 road victory over the Canadore Panthers in the qualifying round. Mohawk was on the brink of elimination after dropping two of the first three sets to Canadore, but the Mountaineers rallied to win sets four and five.

Cambrian, on the other hand, had a more straightforward path to the quarterfinals, sweeping the Algonquin Wolves 3-0 in their first-round matchup.

Last Meeting:

In their two meetings this season, Cambrian emerged victorious both times, winning 3-1 in each match. Mohawk has not defeated Cambrian since the 2022 season, losing their last seven matchups, including a playoff loss.

During the 2022-23 OCAA playoffs, Cambrian defeated the Mountaineers 3-1 in the bronze medal match, marking the last time the two teams met in the postseason.
