CCAA Bronze Semi-Final Preview: No. 15 Mountaineers aim to keep season alive versus No. 5 Geants

FREDERICTON, NB – The No. 15 nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers women's basketball team is still in the hunt for a national medal after falling in the CCAA Semi-Finals.

Mohawk will face off against the No. 5 ranked Geants de Saint-Jean in a CCAA Bronze Medal Semi-Final game on March 14 at 5 p.m. (ET). The winner will advance to the CCAA Bronze Medal Game on March 15.

The Matchup:

After defeating the No. 3 ranked VIU Mariners in the quarter-finals, the Mountaineers were defeated 65-57 by the No. 12 ranked St. Mary's Lightning in the semi-finals, dropping them to the bronze medal bracket. Mohawk had a brief two-point lead late in the game, but St. Mary's closed the contest with a 10-0 run.

Saint-Jean started the tournament with a 67-61 loss to the No. 8 ranked Columbia Bible Bearcats, but kept their medal hopes alive with a 74-60 victory over the St. Thomas Tommies in the bronze quarter-finals.

Last Meeting:

Although both the Mountaineers and Geants participated in the 2023 CCAA Women's Basketball National Championship tournament held at Mohawk, this will be the first-ever matchup between the two teams.
