HAMILTON, Ont. – Mohawk Mountaineers fifth-year guard Maddie Anderson headlined the 2025-26 OCAA women's basketball regular-season awards, earning conference Player of the Year and West Division Player of the Year honours. She was also named a West Division First Team All-Star and a CCAA All-Canadian.
Mihai Raducanu was named OCAA West Division Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. Rounding out Mohawk's award winners, Malak Dahawy was named West Division Sixth Woman of the Year, while Joanna Smith earned West Division Second Team All-Star honours.
In her third season with Mohawk, Anderson appeared in 13 games, averaging 28.4 minutes. She ranked fourth in the conference with 17.0 points per game, tied for fourth in three-pointers made, and averaged 7.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
Anderson becomes the first Mountaineers women's basketball student-athlete to earn OCAA Player of the Year honours and the program's first CCAA All-Canadian since 1990-91. Mohawk has now had six All-Canadians in its women's basketball history.
Raducanu becomes the first West Division coach to win back-to-back coach of the year awards since Fanshawe's Bill Carriere (2018-19, 2019-20), and the first Mohawk women's basketball coach to do so since Earl Begg (1989-90, 1990-91).
In his fourth season at the helm, Raducanu guided the Mountaineers to a 15-1 record – the program's highest win total since 2017-18. Mohawk has consistently ranked among the top four teams nationally in the CCAA this season, including holding the No. 1 spot for three weeks.
The Mountaineers led the OCAA in scoring, averaging 80.5 points per game, and ranked third defensively, allowing 53.1 points per game. Their average margin of victory in 15 wins was 30.6 points.
Dahawy earned sixth woman of the year honours after being named to the West Division All-Rookie team last season. In 15 games this season, she averaged 9.1 points on 48.5 per cent shooting, along with 3.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.
Smith earned second-team all-star honours in her first season with Mohawk after spending the previous two at Fanshawe. She averaged career highs of 14.6 points per game on 46 per cent shooting, along with 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
The 2025-26 season marks the third consecutive year the Mountaineers have had at least three women's basketball student-athletes receive OCAA year-end recognition.
Mohawk will continue its quest to repeat as OCAA champions on Feb. 28, when it hosts the Lambton Lions in a quarterfinal matchup at 1 p.m.
