No. 10 Mountaineers visit Colts in playoff rematch

HAMILTON, Ont. – The No. 10 nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers men's basketball team will try to advance past the quarterfinals in a playoff rematch against the Centennial Colts on Saturday in Scarborough.

The teams met in the opening round of the OCAA playoffs last season in Hamilton, with Mohawk earning the win. It marks the fourth consecutive year the Mountaineers have reached the quarterfinals, with the previous two appearances ending in losses.

PLAYOFF RECAP
Mohawk advanced with an 86-79 home victory over the Algonquin Wolves in the qualifying round last weekend. The Mountaineers, the West Division's No. 3 seed, trailed the East Division's sixth-seeded Wolves by six entering the fourth quarter despite leading for much of the game.

Mohawk finished the regular season with a 13-5 record.

Centennial, the East Division's No. 2 seed, opened the playoffs with a 105-74 win over the Fanshawe Falcons. The Colts led by seven at halftime before pulling away in the third quarter to secure the 31-point victory.

Centennial finished the regular season tied for first in the East at 14-4 but was placed second following a tiebreaker.

HISTORICAL MATCHUP
Saturday will mark the 40^th all-time meeting between the Mountaineers and Colts. Before last season's playoff matchup, the teams last met in 2011-12, when Mohawk earned a 73-69 quarterfinal win.

Mohawk holds a 5-3 edge over Centennial in playoff meetings, while the Colts lead the all-time series 20-19.
