On November 8, 1969 the Mohawk men's cross country team made history when it took the OCAA gold medal at Sheridan College with a first, second, third, fourth and eighth place finish in the final race. It was described then by team member and runner Al Whitley as a "fantastic win by a fantastic team," and was one fo the more dominating performances by a team at an OCAA Cross Country Championship.
On the 1969-1970 team were: Bill Urie (OCAA gold medal winner), the late Orval Anderson (OCAA silver medalist), Bob Sisler (OCAA bronze medalist), Al Whitley, Erik Kamermans and their coach, the late Al Arnold.
