Taylor Downhaniuk forged a legacy as one of the most dominant interior presences in Mohawk men’s basketball history. Over five seasons (2010-2015), he embodied excellence, consistency and defensive mastery, earning major accolades at both the provincial and national levels. His freshman year marked the beginning of an outstanding career, as he earned a spot on the 2010-11 OCAA All-Rookie Team. He quickly rose to national prominence the following season, being named to the 2011-12 CCAA Second All-Tournament Team while helping lead Mohawk to the CCAA championship title.

Twice named OCAA Defensive Player of the Year (2012-13 and 2013-14), Downhaniuk’s shot-blocking ability became his trademark. He set the Mohawk single-season record with 77 blocks and owns four of the top five seasons in school history. By the end of his career, he ranked first all-time in blocks and games played, second in rebounds and fourth in total points.

A two-time OCAA gold medallist and silver medallist, Downhaniuk remains a cornerstone of Mohawk’s storied basketball tradition.
