Brian Jonker stands as one of the most accomplished head coaches in Mohawk College history, guiding the men’s basketball program to unprecedented success over 17 seasons (18 years). With 312 career wins – including 180 regular-season victories, the most by any Mohawk coach in any sport – Jonker’s impact is unmatched.

Under his leadership, the Mountaineers captured two OCAA championships, two silver medals and a bronze, while advancing to the CCAA national championship three times. The pinnacle came in 2011-12, when Mohawk secured its first and only CCAA national title. Jonker was twice named OCAA West Division Coach of the Year, earning the honour in 2011-12 and again in 2022-23.

Jonker also played a pivotal role in athlete development, coaching four CCAA All-Canadians. His teams finished below .500 only four times – never in back-to-back seasons – cementing his status as one of the most successful coaches in OCAA basketball history. He was inducted into the OCAA Hall of Fame in 2025.
