Steve Pawelczyk left a lasting legacy on Mohawk men’s volleyball as one of the program’s most dynamic and decorated athletes. A dominant offensive presence and inspiring leader, Pawelczyk consistently elevated his game, earning recognition at every level during his four-year career (2005-2009).

In 2006-07, he was named an OCAA First Team All-Star, setting the stage for an exceptional final season in 2008-09. That year, he captured the OCAA regional scoring title, was named OCAA Men’s Volleyball Player of the Year, and earned both OCAA First Team All-Star and OCAA Championship All-Star honours. His excellence extended to the national stage, where he was selected a CCAA All-Canadian and named Mohawk’s Male Athlete of the Year.

Pawelczyk finished his career as Mohawk’s all-time leader in aces, and ranked top-five in career kills and total points. His leadership helped the Mountaineers claim two OCAA gold medals, one silver, two bronzes and a CCAA bronze – the program’s lone national medal.

Pawelczyk’s enduring impact resonates as a model of competitive excellence and sportsmanship.
